nubia just introduced the Z80 Ultra, the company’s latest flagship smartphone, at an event in China as the successor to last year’s Z70 Ultra.
Display
The phone packs a 6.85-inch 144Hz screen without a notch that uses BOE X10 luminous material, has up to 2000 nits local peak brightness, AI twilight eye protection, which automatically adjusts the screen color temperature and other parameters according to the sunrise and sunset times in different regions.
The Z80 Ultra has instantaneous touch sampling rate can reach, 3000Hz, and the frame response speed is increased by 20%. The physical game buttons support full-dimensional action mapping, etc. It also has master-level 1115E speakers, forming a BOX stereo and supporting DTS X tuning.
Performance
The phone is powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC with up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM with a transmission speed of 10.7Gbps and UFS 4.1 storage with 23% improved random read performance. In terms of heat dissipation, this phone is equipped with the same composite liquid metal as the REDMAGIC gaming phone, which can reduce the chip temperature by 5° C. It is equipped with an extra-large 3D Ice Steel VC heat sink with an area increased by 35%. It also has the same game space as the Red Magic and has built-in 140+ auxiliary functions.
Camera
The Z80 Ultra has a 50MP custom OmniVision Light Master 990 1/1.3″ CMOS sensor with 1.2-micron large pixels, and supports DCG dual conversion gain HDR technology. There is a 50MP 1/1.55″ 18mm ultra-wide-angle camera with a large aperture of f/1.8 and a 64MP ultra-high-definition periscope telephoto lens with a 1/2″ sensor, OIS.
On the software level, this phone has an “AI Photography Master” voice guidance system, which can be turned on in the camera interface, allowing users and subjects to directly hear action and angle guidance, and teach you how to take good photos “hand in hand”. It also supports AI filter recommendations, allowing the software to automatically select filters based on actual scenes, and you can also customize filters yourself.

ZTE has also introduced Professional Photography Kit for the phone. The body is made of technological nano-leather material and a titanium-colored aluminum alloy frame. The handle is wrapped with first-layer cowhide. It has physical mechanical operation keys, Neo Bar smart camera control bar, customizable wheel/turntable function, and upgraded quick-release handle for faster assembly.
This professional photography kit also has a “T-mount” that supports external lenses. It can also be equipped with a filter adapter ring to directly install the camera’s 67mm filter. There is a cold shoe interface on the top to install fill lights, microphones and other peripherals.
Battery
The phone packs a 7200mAh battery with AI intelligent power-saving technology, supports 90W wired fast charging + 80W wireless fast charging, and is equipped with wireless reverse charging.
