Samsung is gearing up to launch its next-generation Galaxy Watch 8 lineup, featuring the Galaxy Watch 8, Watch 8 Classic, and Watch Ultra 2025. According to a report by Android Headlines, all three models will feature the new squircle design first introduced with last year’s Galaxy Watch Ultra — including the base Galaxy Watch 8.
Galaxy Watch 8 Classic and Ultra
Visually, the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic and Watch Ultra 2025 follow a similar design language. However, the Classic model retains a thicker bezel with notches for the rotating bezel — a popular feature among users. It also adds the Quick button introduced on last year’s Galaxy Watch Ultra. Recent CAD leaks by OnLeaks closely match the current renders.
Galaxy Watch 8 Sports Subtle Squircle Design
The Galaxy Watch 8 will also adopt the squircle shape, though it’s less prominent compared to the Classic and Ultra versions. As with the previous generation, Samsung may stick to offering the Galaxy Watch 8 in both 40mm and 44mm sizes.
The squircle design debuted last year mainly to improve durability, especially for outdoor enthusiasts and hikers, thanks to its “cushion” structure. Since the Watch 8 is not designed as a rugged device, it will be interesting to see how Samsung positions this new look.
Galaxy Watch Ultra 2025: Minor Design Changes, New Blue Colorway
The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2025 sticks closely to the previous model’s design, with only minor visual tweaks. The standout update is a new blue bezel and matching blue Marine strap, a fresh alternative to last year’s orange and dark gray options. This blue color is expected to be Samsung’s “hero” shade, continuing a trend seen earlier this year with the Galaxy S25 series.
Launch date?
Samsung is likely to unveil the Galaxy Watch 8 series next month during an Unpacked event, probably alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 foldable phones.
While Samsung hasn’t officially confirmed the event or the watches yet, a formal announcement should arrive soon.
