HONOR 400 series will get 6 years of Android updates

Following Google I/O 2025 yesterday, HONOR today announced a commitment to provide 6 years of Android updates for its upcoming HONOR 400 Series. The series is also slated to feature advanced AI capabilities, developed using Google technology, and is scheduled to update to Android 16 in 2025.

To remind you, the HONOR 200 Pro got 4 major OS updates and 5 years of security patches for the global markets.

HONOR stated that its collaboration with Google has enabled it to be among the first to offer the latest Android experience to its users. This partnership is said to facilitate developer access to the latest Android releases, aiming to ensure users receive recent and secure Android features without delay.

Android 16 beta for HONOR Magic7 Pro

Last year, HONOR released the Android 15 Beta version to its developers. Continuing this, the Android 16 Beta 3 version has been made available to developers on the HONOR Magic7 Pro since May 7th.

Consumers can anticipate experiencing Android 16 features soon. The HONOR Magic7 Pro, HONOR Magic V3, and the upcoming HONOR 400 Series are all scheduled to receive updates to a MagicOS version based on Android 16 in 2025. This commitment is intended to ensure HONOR users continue to access current technology and enhanced security features as they become available.

HONOR emphasized its commitment to open collaboration as a foundational element of its HONOR ALPHA PLAN, which aims to foster an open, value-sharing ecosystem with global partners. The company highlighted its ongoing partnership with global partners as an example of the HONOR ALPHA PLAN in practice.

The HONOR 400 series is set to debut image-to-video generation capabilities, utilizing Google’s Veo 2 video generation model on Google Cloud’s Vertex AI. This feature will allow users to transform static images, including real-life photos, AI-generated artwork, and older pictures, into 5-second short videos and moving photos. These can be shared on social media for both Android and iOS users.

The launch of the HONOR 400 Series tomorrow, May 22nd, is expected to deliver these AI capabilities.
