JioCinema breaks world record with 3.2 crore concurrent viewership during Tata IPL 2023 finals

Jio Cinema has announced that it has created a world record for viewership during the Gujarat Titans (GT) vs Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Tata IPL finals on May 29th, which clocked 32 million or 3.2 Crore concurrent viewers.

It was expected to reach more than this, but the match was delayed due to rain, so the viewership dropped for the second innings. Still, it clocked over 2 crore concurrent viewership even after 1AM.

With this, the company has broken the previous world record set during India vs New Zealand Semi-Final in the ICC 2019 World Cup. It has also broken its own record of 2.5 crore views it set during the GT vs CSK qualifier match on May 23rd. JioCinema broke its own record for the fourth time this season.

JioCinema recently announced that it clocked over 1300 Crore video views in the first five weeks of the TATA IPL 2023. Average time spent per viewer per match touched 60 minutes. TATA IPL 2023 on Connected TV has already reached twice the number of viewers than that on HD TV. JioCinema has 26 top brands partnering for their digital streaming of TATA IPL 2023.

Viacom18 has the Tata IPL digital streaming rights from 2023-27. Jio-Cinema already said that digital is seeing its direct benefit, and it is streaming IPL matches for free, which has boosted IPL’s viewership on the digital platform. It is expected to start charging for the IPL 2024, while it keeps signing several deals for the JioCinema Premium.
