OnePlus Nord 2T 5G Unboxing and First Impressions


OnePlus just launched its Nord 2T 5G smartphone in India as the successor to last year’s Nord 2. This retains the 90Hz AMOLED screen, 50MP rear camera with Sony sensor and the 4500mAh battery, but this is powered by new Dimensity 1300 SoC and comes with 80W SuperVOOC fast charging. The OnePlus Nord 2T 5G features a 6.43-inch FHD+ Fluid AMOLED display with 90Hz refresh rate, same as the Nord 2. There is video Color Boost that works with video apps like YouTube to boost the color and gradience of images. There is also Smart ambient display works when you are outdoors by automatically improves readability.

It has a 32-megapixel in-screen camera with Sony IMX615 sensor. The earpiece is present on the top edge, and it doubles up as a secondary speaker.

The OnePlus Nord 2T is powered by  MediaTek Dimensity 1300 chipset, compared to Dimensity 1200-AI in the predecessor. This has 10% improvements for AI tasks, offering AI enhancements by improving night shot photography and HDR capabilities for great image clarity. It has up to 12GB of RAM and supports 5G SA/NSA with several bands. It runs Android 12 with OxygenOS 12.1 on top, and has ColorOS codebase. The company already confirmed two Android updates and three years of security updates for the phone.

It has an in-display fingerprint scanner which is quick to unlock the phone immediately when you place your finger. You can also notice a small bezel.

It has an alert slider on the right side along with the power button. The volume rockers are present on the left. The secondary microphone is on the top. The dual 5G SIM slots, primary microphone, USB Type-C port and the speaker grill are present on the bottom.

The phone has triple rear cameras that include a 50-megapixel main camera with Sony IMX766 sensor. It also has the OIS and includes AI photo enhancement, AI video enhancement and Nightscape Ultra. It has an 8-megapixel 119° ultra-wide angle camera and a 2-megapixel B&W sensor for portrait shots. For video, it has up to 4K 30 fps and 1080p 60 fps video recording. There is also portrait video, Bokeh Flare portrait video and Dual-View video features. It can record high frame rate slow-motion video at up to 960 fps.

It has a glass back, and the Gray Shadow that we have has a muted, matte, dark colour inspired by the look of a dark stone bathing in the sunlight. The texture of Gray Shadow is achieved by using anti-glare technology and microbeads, which also helps make the rear more resistant to fingerprints and sweat, said the company. The phone has Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on the front and rear.

The phone also comes in Jade Fog colour has a glossy rear finish, with the green colour inspired by porcelain. The phone has the same 4500mAh battery, but it upgrades 65W fast charging to 80W SuperVOOC charging that can charge up to 100% in 27 minutes.

The OnePlus Nord 2T 5G starts at Rs. 28,999 for the 8GB + 128GB model and goes up to Rs. 33,999 for the top-end 12GB RAM with 256GB storage version, which is cheaper than the predecessor. It will be available from  Amazon.in, OnePlus.in, OnePlus Store App, OnePlus Experience stores and authorized partner stores starting from July 5th. There is also a limited-period Rs. 1500 discount for ICICI Bank card users.
