Microsoft Defender app for Windows, macOS, iOS and Android released

Microsoft has announced the general availability of their new security app called Microsoft Defender for individuals. It is the newest offering in their family of Microsoft Defender and Microsoft 365 solutions, and it extends upon the protections built into Windows Security. It is also now available for Android and iOS after over 2 years of the announcement.

The Microsoft Defender is a simplified online security service that brings multiple protections together into a single dashboard. It is built on their enterprise-grade Microsoft Defender for Endpoint technology solution.

Features of Microsoft Defender app include:
  • Viewing and managing for everyone in the family, from a single easy-to-use, centralized dashboard.
  • Viewing existing antivirus protection (such as Norton or McAfee).
  • Extend Windows device protections to iOS, Android, and macOS devices for cross-platform malware protection
  • Receive instant security alerts, resolution strategies, and expert tips to help keep data and devices secure.

The app will soon support features such as identity theft protection and secure online connection.

The Microsoft Defender app is available to Microsoft 365 subscribers beginning today, both Personal or Family subscriptions, across Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android.
