Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G Unboxing and First Impressions


Xiaomi under its Redmi brand launched its Redmi Note 11 Pro series smartphones in India earlier this week. We have the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G, which is the first mid-range 5G phone from Redmi that packs an 120Hz AMOLED screen and support for 67W fast charge. Here we have the first impressions of the phone.

The phone has a 6.67-inch  Full HD+ 120Hz AMOLED DotDisplay that can only switch between 60Hz and 120Hz. It has up to 1200 nits brightness, so the sunlight legibility is good even in bright outdoors.  The screen has corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

The tiny  punch-hole houses a 16MP camera. On the top edge there is a loudspeaker grill that also doubles up as a speaker. Since the phone has always-on display, it doesn’t have a notification LED. Powered by Snapdragon 695 8nm SoC with support for liquid cooling, the phone has up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB UFS 2.2 storage. It runs Android 11 with MIUI 13 out of the box, and it should get the Android 12 update soon. The phone offers a smooth user experience and doesn’t have any lags.

Coming to the button placements, the volume rockers and the power button that integrates the fingerprint sensor are present on the right side of the phone. There are also some gesture features in the power button that lets you double tap to perform actions or take a screenshot. On the top there is a 3.5mm audio jack, vent for speaker, secondary microphone and an infrared sensor. The hybrid dual SIM slot, loudspeaker grill, primary microphone and USB Type-C port are present on the bottom.

Since the phone has a plastic frame, you don’t see any antenna cutouts. The flat frame offers a good grip to hold and doesn’t attract fingerprints.

The Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G features the 108MP Samsung HM2 1/1.52″ sensor with 0.7μm pixel size. It offers faster and more effective phase detecting autofocus solution and nine-pixel binning technology to capture rich detail, even in low-light conditions. There is an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera and 2-megapixel macro camera. Even though the phone has a 108MP camera, there is no support for 4K video recording and supports, which is a restriction due to the SoC.

The phones feature a flat-edge design and a frosted AG glass back in the black and white colours, so it doesn’t attract fingerprints. It also comes in Mirage Blue colour that has an attractive design. The phone also has IP53 ratings for dust and water resistance. The phone packs a 5000mAh battery  with support for 67W fast charging that can charge up to 50% in 15 minutes. It weighs 202 grams since it packs a huge battery.

The Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G is priced at Rs. 20,999 for the 6GB + 128GB version, 8GB + 128GB model costs Rs. 22,999 and the 8GB + 256GB model costs Rs. 24,999. It will be available from Amazon.in, Mi.com, Mi Home stores and offline stores starting from March 15th.
