Apple iPhone 15 Pro series could feature a 5x periscope zoom lens

Rumors about the Apple working on an iPhone with a periscope lens surfaced back in 2020 from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Even though some rumours said that the iPhone 14 Pro in 2022 will feature a periscope lens, new rumours indicate that it will only arrive with the iPhone 15 Pro launching in 2023.

According to analyst Jeff Pu, Apple will finally introduce a periscope lens with a 5x optical zoom in iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models. The Cupertino giant is said to be negotiating with Lante Optics, who will supply periscope lenses for the 2023 iPhone Pro models. Apple is said to be testing the samples and will make the final decision in May.

After the deal, Lante Optics will reportedly supply 100 million components to Apple. Samsung and HUAWEI already offer 10x periscope zoom lens in their flagship products, and they keep getting better in every generation. The latest iPhone 13 Pro models are limited to 3x optical zoom.

In the other news, recent rumours said that the company will switch to a 48MP main camera in the iPhone 14 Pro series from 12MP in the current generation and bring support for 8K video recording, up from 4K recording in the iPhone 13 series.
