realme has already started realme UI 2.0 development, confirms CMO

realme started off as an oppo sub-brand and soon after became an independent brand, but realme kept using oppo’s version of Android – ColorOS. The company later decided to introduce their own UI and finally announced Android 10 based realme UI 1.0 back in December 2019. realme UI brings an array of new features such as dual earphone connection, animated wallpapers, screen-off display, customizable icon shape, new charging animation, realme Share (cross-brand file-sharing technology) and more.

Now, in response to a user suggestion on twitter, realme India CMO, Francis Wang has revealed that the company has already started realme UI 2.0 development.

realme UI 2.0 is expected to be based on upcoming Android 11. Francis had earlier confirmed that realme X and realme Pro series devices will be receiving two major Android 1 updates, which means realme 3 Pro, realme 5 Pro, realme 6 Pro and all realme X devices launched till date will receive Android 11 based realme UI 2.0 update.

realme decided not to update realme 1, realme 2, realme C1 and realme U1 devices to realme UI 1.0 since realme UI 1.0 was developed on Android 10 base, and the company did face some backlash from fans and community for it. So, there is a chance that we might see some realme UI 2.0 version on Android 10 base as well, for devices such as realme 2 Pro, realme 3, realme 3i, and realme C2.

realme has completed Android 10 based realme UI 1.0 roll-out for few devices including realme 3 Pro, realme 5 Pro, realme X, realme XT, realme X2 and realme X2 Pro, the company is yet to roll out realme UI 1.0 update for about 6-7 smartphones which is supposed to happen in next 3-4 months.
