RIM announces Sunil Dutt as Managing Director for India

Research In Motion (RIM) has appointed Sunil Dutt as Managing Director for India. He worked for Hewlett Packard India Sales Pte Ltd previously as President, Personal Systems Group and was responsible for expanding their business in enterprise, mid-market and consumer space. Frenny Bawa, previous Managing Director of RIM quit last month.

India, Mumbai- December 06, 2011: Research In Motion (RIM) (NASDAQ: RIMM; TSX: RIM) today announced the appointment of Mr. Sunil Dutt as Managing Director for India. Sunil Dutt is an industry veteran with 27 years of extensive experience in the Indian Mobile Technology and Telecom sector.

“Sunil Dutt brings a wealth of experience to RIM. His strong managerial and communication skills, as well as an institutional understanding of the technology and telecom sector will be instrumental in driving the next stage of our business’s growth in India,” said Mr. Urpo Karjalainen, Sr. Vice President APAC for Research In Motion.

Commenting on his appointment, Mr. Sunil Dutt – Managing Director, India for Research In Motion said, “India has achieved considerable success in RIM’s global business in recent years. I am excited to be part of RIM and to help drive this success further. ”

Until recently, Sunil worked for Hewlett Packard India Sales Pte Ltd as President, Personal Systems Group and was responsible for expanding their business in enterprise, mid-market and consumer space. Prior to that, Sunil worked in senior positions for companies like Samsung India Electronics Ltd , Nokia India Pte Ltd, Whirlpool of India Ltd, Wipro Limited and Philips India.
