Samsung Galaxy S2 Ice Cream Sandwich update confirmed

Samsung UK has confirmed the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Samsung Galaxy S2 on their tweet. The Samsung Galaxy S2 is one of the best selling phones for Samsung with 10 million this September since its launch 6 month ago. The Samsung Galaxy S2 came with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) out of the box. Samsung Italy listed their eligible devices for the Android 4.0 update recently. HTC confirmed the Android Ice Cream Sandwich update for their top range phone earlier this month.

The Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) would bring new features such as intuitive gestures, Face Unlock, Home screen folders and favorites tray , Resizable widgets , New lock screen actions, Better Error correction and word suggestion , Redesigned Gallery app with photo editor and lots more.

Google released the source code for the Android 4.0 recently for the developers. Samsung might take some time to add their custom changes for the phone such as TouchWiz UI. People has already ported the custom Android 4.0 for the phone.

The exact date of availability of the Android 4.0 update for the Samsung Galaxy S2 is not known yet.

    Whenver we do get the update please post a video of how to update without  losing all the phone contacts and everything.

    samsung needs to be fast enough to provide upgrades for galaxy s2…… being slow reduces the competitiveness of the phone with the fast changing cellular technology as well as ever emerging phone market.
