OnePlus is all set to launch next-gen flagship in less than two weeks. However, Before the formal launch, the company had been teasing the features of the upcoming flagship – OnePlus 6, which is touted to be its fastest smartphone, equipped with the latest and powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset and up to 8GB RAM. Till now, many rumours and speculations about the device have surfaced online revealing the nitty-gritty details of the yet-to-be-launched OnePlus 6, while the company has also confirmed some of the features of the phone, as well as launch dates and pop-up events.
The OnePlus 6 is expected to feature a 19:9 aspect ratio to fit a notch on top where the front camera and other sensors will reside. The top-notch will measure exactly 19.62 x 7.69 mm. The phone will come with up to 256GB storage for the first time. It will retain their very popular feature, the alert slider, which is now present on the right side of the phone.
Pete Lau, CEO and Founder, recently confirmed that the OnePlus 6 will feature a glass design. He also said that OnePlus design team tested over 70 glass prototypes before selecting the best one.
The glass back of the OnePlus 6 is to have five printed layers of Nanotech coating, instead of three, which is a first in the smartphone industry. The additional layers give the back of the device a stronger impression of depth and a premium feel.
The company’s latest teaser confirmed the OnePlus 6 x Marvel Avengers Limited Edition which will launch along with the OnePlus 6 on May 17th, a few months after the launch of OnePlus 5T Star Wars Edition, in partnership with Disney. It also hinted at a 19:9 display and a unique textured back, which is rumored to be kevlar back. OnePlus confirmed that it will feature design elements inspired from the movie.
Another teaser confirmed that the OnePlus 6 is launching in India on May 17 at Dome @ NSCI Mumbai at 3PM. The company also said that Amazon.in Prime members will be able to purchase the OnePlus 6 in an exclusive sale beginning at 12:00 IST on 21st May 2018, and ‘Notify me’ for the sale started couple of weeks back.
OnePlus, with the launch of the 5T was the first company to offer community members an opportunity to attend the launch event. The OnePlus 6 launch event will be its biggest community event yet. Tickets to attend the event will be available via oneplus.in at Rs. 999 from 10:00 IST on Tuesday, 8th May 2018. OnePlus started conducting pop-up events from 2015 with the OnePlus 2. This lets users experience the smartphone before buying and a chance to purchase the smartphone first in the world before general open sales. This time in India, pop-up events will happen across 8 cities – Bengaluru, Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Ahmedabad. Across the globe pop-ups will be held in New York, London, Paris, Milan and Beijing.
OnePlus will also offer goodies for people purchasing the phone. In India, the OnePlus 6 pop-ups will take place between 3:30PM-8PM on 21st May , and between 11AM-7PM on 22nd May. Stocks will be limited, so you will have to get there early to buy the OnePlus 6.
