Verizon CEO dumps Microsoft

We recently told you that Verizon will not be launching WP7 powered phones until 2011. Now there is a question in every Verizon customer head, why Verizon is not launching WP7 powered phones? Verizon clears the question by saying that Microsoft is not a major player in mobile operating systems. Have a look on the full statement:

“I can’t really say which phones we’ll offer yet. We like our relationship with Microsoft. But clearly in the U.S. there are three major mobile operating systems: RIM, Google, and Apple.” Lowell McAdam, CEO, Verizon Communications.

That’s what Verizon CEO said when asked by CNET. If you consider at the statement above, you can see that Verizon CEO also took Apple name, and for sure Apple is a major player in USA and other parts of the world. Verizon is already offering RIM and Android devices, and may be they are looking forward to another new player, and it could be Apple. As we also heard rumors that the iPhone is coming to Verizon next year, so may be Verizon CEO gave us a hint in the statement.

Why Verizon is dropping Windows Mobile? I think the reason is that Verizon launched the KIN one and KIN two a few months ago, and we all know that what happened with both devices. Microsoft discontinued the KIN One and Two because of the poor sales result, both phones were  exclusive to Verizon Wireless and it’s rumored that only 500 phones were sold. Verizon experienced some bad time with Windows Mobile, so I think they don’t want to give it a chance again.
