Nokia 5800 firmware update v40.0.005 brings kinetic scrolling

The Nokia 5800 got a firmware update just hours ago which adds Kinetic scrolling to the phone. The version V40.0.005 firware has been in development for quite some time and has been released finally.

You can update the firmware OTA ( Over the Air) or using Nokia Software Updater using a PC.  OTA will be easier and you can do it just from the phone. Although the 5800 supports UDP or User Data Preservation taking a backup of your phone is highly recommended !

Do you see the update in your phone ? There is no change log available , so let us know what changes you see after the update .

    I have updated my 5800 firmware to 40.0.005 by nokia care
    but after that i am facing some issue like full qwatry keyboard is not available. contacts from memory card are not shown.
    Nokia care says it is not recommended to upgrade the new firmware. I will have to wait for new release.
    Its very panic, i lost my contact etc.
    Can u suggest me the latest version.

    Hey Guys!! All those who are in India (Delhi) and who are unable to update their phones to v40 and are stuck to v30 or 31 (mostly with Product Codes 0575590), Just go to your nearest Nokia Care Center and get ur phone updated to the latest version IRRESPECTIVE OF THE PRODUCT CODE your phone will be updated to v40. I got it done from the CP Nokia Care Branch, Delhi free of cost!!!

    I am having 5800XM and my current Firmware is V30. I want to upgrade it to V40. Also I have tried many time to go on update and “check for new update” and response compes ” No Update found”

    Can any one tell me what is how to get product key and iss it possible to get V40 on my mobile without loosing warrenty?

    i believe most of u ‘ve successfully upgraded to f/w v40.0.005
    please share ur exp with the upgrade..any bugs specifically..hu stable is it?

    n specifically whts the size of the f/w it showed me 145.4 MB but its still counting…. not sure how long ‘ll it take :(

      Hi,
      I updated my nokia xm to v_40. And it hanges frequently. Specially the songs which i had downloaded when i was using the previous software version. I have to restart it freuently.
      It is really a pain, since i cannot play those songs at all !!!!

      I am waiting for a new update and hopeful this is fixed in it.

    Please check with nokia before upgrading your framwork, because It does not support full qwarty keyboard. I have upgraded in January but facing this problem and nokia is not concern to provide solution. Without full qwarty keyboard its very tough to type anything…

      It means to say that it has full touch qwerty keyboard,which you can use it on the screen itself…

          hiiiiiiiii brother full qwarty keyboard will support TO YOUR PHONE NOKIA 5800 XPRESS-MUSIC FOLLW THESE STEPS :~~~~~~~~~~~ just turn the phone left side……… before u turn the phone please go to the setting :~and go to phone setting :~ sensor setting :~sensor turn (ON) :~ turning controls activate (auto – rotate display) thats alll ……….. (now go to the messaging and go to the create message:~ NOW JUST TURN YOUR PHONE LEFT SIDE THE FULL KEY -BOARD WILL ACTIVATE THATS ALL PLEASE GIVE ME REPLY PLease please

    I jusst got my mobile firmware upgraded from Shadipur Nokia Care Branch Delhi and there are new features added, however the mob has gone slow and Hangs and restarts most of the time when you try two or more application at same time.

    try to tilt your phone bcoz the full qwerty keyboard is in landscape mode..

    hi…i had a prob wherein my phone gets hung up every nw n den and the only solution to this was removing n replacing the battery. upgraded to the latest 40.0 version n the problem still persists…any suggestions???

      Hi Sachin,
      Even i had Updated To v40, but i didn’t got any problem.
      Once Try to Format Your 5800 .(First BackUp your settings,.. and after formatting restore your backup.)Hope this solves you problem.And Try to Keep 2GB empty memory in your memory card if you are using 8GB or more

    it dosnt have a motion sensor qwerty keypad :( ….it has a kinetic scrooling in it … :) it has also a rooling friends scrooler at home screen like nokia 5230 and nokia 5530 :) …
