BSNL soft launches Quantum 5G FWA with plans starting at Rs. 999

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) last week announced the soft launch of its Quantum 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) service. The launch took place at Hyderabad’s Ameerpet Exchange, led by CMD Shri A. Robert J. Ravi and attended by officials from BSNL, DoT, industry, and academia.

What Makes Quantum 5G FWA Unique?
  • SIM-less Design: BSNL’s Direct-to-Device platform enables auto-authentication without a physical SIM, making it India’s first production-grade SIM-less 5G service.
  • Fully Indigenous Technology: BSNL’s full network stack—from core to RAN and CPE—is locally developed under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
  • High-Speed Performance: Tests in Ameerpet delivered download speeds of 980 Mbps and upload speeds of 140 Mbps with sub-10 ms latency—ideal for 4K streaming, cloud gaming, and remote work.
  • Fast and Easy Installation: The plug-and-play gateway covers 85% of homes in Hyderabad using BSNL’s existing tower grid—no fibre digging or trenching needed.

What’s Next for BSNL Quantum 5G FWA?
  • BSNL will start pilots in six cities—Bengaluru, Pondicherry, Visakhapatnam, Pune, Gwalior, and Chandigarh—by September 2025.
  • Entry-level tariffs start at Rs. 999 for 100 Mbps and Rs. 1499 for 300 Mbps.
  • The 5G standalone core will enable SLA-backed, network-sliced connectivity tailored for MSMEs and smart industrial clusters.

BSNL’s indigenous 5G FWA positions the company as a pioneer in bridging digital divides, with a focus on rural and remote connectivity. The soft launch phase will help fine-tune user experience before a nationwide rollout. For more info, visit www.bsnl.co.in.

Quantum 5G FWA highlights how Indian engineers create world-class connectivity solutions. This is the first SIM-less, fully indigenous 5G FWA from BSNL. Hyderabad’s tech-savvy environment is perfect for launching our next-generation access portfolio. Today is a soft launch, with many cities and feature upgrades to come.
