Update: HONOR today confirmed that the Magic V5 will be just 8.8mm when folded, continuing to set a new record for thinness and lightness.
According to leaker Digital Chat Station, the phone will weight 217g, will be powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, and is said to pack a 50MP main camera, ultra-wide camera and 3X optical periscope telephoto camera.
Earlier: HONOR yesterday confirmed the launch of HONOR Magic V5 foldable smartphone in China on July 5th. Today, at the MWC Shanghai 2025, HONOR CEO James Li announced the launch date of the phone officially.
He also said that this will be the company’s most powerful AI-powered foldable to date, and added that this will be the world’s thinnest and lightest foldable smartphone, following the company’s own Magic V3 that is 4.35mm when unfolded, 9.2mm when folded and weighs 226g.
The company said that this will directly challenge the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 that will launch globally in early July. It promises a compelling alternative for users seeking cutting-edge design, performance, and portability.
HONOR added that the Magic V5 will feature advanced on-device AI capabilities, empowering users with PC-level productivity—marking a bold new chapter in intelligent foldable technology.
Based on earlier reports, the phone will pack Snapdragon 8 Elite Leading Version, come with a 7.95″ 2K+LTPO foldable screen, 50MP rear cameras, and around 6100mAh third-generation silicon-carbon battery with 66W wired charging.
We should know more details about the phone in the coming days. We can also expect the global launch of the phone later this year.
