Sony updates firmware for Sony QX10 and QX100 lenses


Sony has rolled out a big software update for its interchangeable lenses – Sony QX10 and Sony QX100. Both the lenses were announced alongside the company’s current flagship – Sony Xperia Z1, at the IFA in Berlin. The latest software update has the version number 2.0 and brings along with it a couple of changes for the lenses.

The changes include

1. Full HD 1080p video recording – initially it recorded videos at 1440×1080 pixels and now it has been bumped up to 1920×1080. The frame rate remains the same at 30 fps.

2. Improved ISO range – for the QX10, the ISO range has been increased from ISO 1600 to ISO 3200 while the higher end QX100 has got a bigger bump from ISO 3200 to ISO 12800.

3. Shutter Speed Priority Shooting Mode – this is only for the high end QX100 and brings direct access control to shutter speed.
