ColorOS 17 Open Beta Program registrations open for OnePlus 15, 15R, 13, 13R and 13s in India

OnePlus has officially initiated the Open Beta Test program for ColorOS 17 across five smartphone models in India: the OnePlus 15, OnePlus 15R, OnePlus 13, OnePlus 13R, and OnePlus 13s.

The recruitment phase runs from October 9 to October 12, allowing early adopters to test upcoming system features and provide feedback ahead of a general public release.

Because this rollout comprises pre-release beta software, certain planned features may be missing or non-functional until subsequent updates arrive. Participants should anticipate potential system instability, performance throttles, or application incompatibilities. The program is currently restricted to unbranded Indian units; carrier-locked devices (such as T-Mobile or Verizon variants) are excluded.

Eligible Models and Prerequisite Firmware

To qualify for the beta channel, devices must run specific baseline build numbers prior to submitting an application:

Device Required Firmware Version(s)
OnePlus 15

CPH2745_16.0.10.500(EX01)

CPH2745_16.0.10.601(EX01)

OnePlus 15R

CPH2767_16.0.10.500(EX01)

CPH2767_16.0.10.600(EX01)

OnePlus 13

CPH2649_16.0.10.501(EX01)

CPH2649_16.0.10.600(EX01)

OnePlus 13R

CPH2691_16.0.10.500(EX01)

CPH2691_16.0.10.600(EX01)

OnePlus 13s CPH2723_16.0.10.500(EX01)
Application and Installation Process

Users with supported firmware can apply directly through the system settings during the October 9–12 window:

  1. Navigate to Settings > About device.
  2. Tap the Up to date banner.
  3. Tap the three-dot overflow menu in the upper-right corner.
  4. Select Beta program and complete the registration prompts.

Once an application receives approval, the build arrives as an over-the-air (OTA) package accessible via Settings > About device > Download Now.

Pre-Installation Precautions
  • Data Safety: While standard OTA upgrades do not intentionally wipe internal storage, full data backups are advised prior to installation.
  • Storage and Power: Devices must maintain at least 30% remaining battery capacity and a minimum of 4 GB of free internal storage.
  • App Stability: Third-party applications may encounter crashes, power drain, or launch failures until developers update them for the new OS version.
  • Post-Update Performance: Background optimization processes immediately after the update can cause temporary thermal spikes, UI lag, and increased battery consumption. Normal operation typically stabilizes after an extended idle period or charging for roughly two hours with the screen off.
Rollback Procedure

Users wishing to revert to a stable release can downgrade via local installation packages. A manual rollback formats internal storage completely, requiring a prior backup.

Bug Reporting

Participants can file bug reports and performance logs using either of the following channels:

  • Dial *#800# in the stock phone dialer to launch the integrated feedback utility.
  • Submit issues directly through Settings > Help & feedback.

OPPO and OnePlus have already confirmed the global and Indian launch of the ColorOS 17 on October 13th.
