Samsung One UI 9 stable update rolls out starting with Galaxy S26 series

Samsung Electronics has announced the expansion of One UI 9 to more Galaxy devices. The latest One UI version brings updates across Galaxy devices and form factors, covering Galaxy AI, personalization, device care, security, and privacy.

New personalization and device care features

One UI 9 adds new ways to keep people in focus, personalize daily information, and manage device care. My FanCam automatically tracks a selected person in a recorded video and keeps them centered by intelligently reframing the footage as the scene moves.

Users can use it for a child’s performance, a friend on the dance floor, or a sporting event, reducing the need for manual editing. They can also instantly focus the video on the selected person.

The new Generative and Editable Cards in Now Brief let users choose what appears in their daily summaries. Users can create cards covering:

  • Health
  • Weather
  • Video

Meanwhile, Warranty and Care brings device support and protection into the Settings menu. Users can use it to:

  • Check warranty coverage across connected mobile devices
  • Run self-diagnostics
  • View repair estimates
  • Manage Samsung Care+
  • Book a service appointment
Galaxy AI capabilities

Along with these updates, One UI 9 adds context-aware suggestions and improvements to translation, scanning, and recording.

Suggestions and creative tools

  • Now Nudge: Surfaces timely, context-aware suggestions across more moments in the Galaxy experience. When users make plans over text, they can access reservation details or save a shared location without leaving the conversation.
  • Creative Studio: Suggests image-generation ideas based on relevant upcoming events. For example, when a friend’s birthday approaches, users may see a prompt to create a themed image or greeting.

Translation and audio

Interpreter adds a Thread View that lets users reference earlier exchanges while following translated conversations. Conversation Mode also gets faster translation, while compatible Galaxy Buds support quicker playback to reduce delays.

Scanning and recording

One UI 9 also brings changes to document scanning and voice recording:

  • Document Scan: Digitizes challenging materials such as curved book pages and corner-folded papers with less manual adjustment.
  • Large-screen views: Compatible Galaxy devices get large-screen-optimized views.
  • Finger Eraser: Gets improvements.
  • Voice Recorder: Presents summaries in a structured format using headings and tables, making key information easier to scan.
Security and privacy updates

One UI 9 also adds security and privacy features that provide alerts about potential issues. Security Brief brings security and privacy updates to Now Brief, including alerts for:

  • Malware
  • Apps from unknown sources
  • Unnecessary permissions

Users can review these alerts to identify potential issues and determine when action is necessary.

Privacy Alerts use on-device AI to identify potential privacy risks, including unnecessary attempts to access permissions in the background. Samsung notes that Privacy Alerts may not account for all relevant factors.

Meanwhile, Scam Detection expands to additional countries and languages, providing protection against potential scam calls in supported markets.

As of the publication of Samsung’s announcement, One UI 9 has rolled out to the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8, and Galaxy Z Flip8. The rollout started on September 16 with the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra. Other Galaxy devices are expected to receive the update gradually.
