MediaTek has announced the Filogic 8000 family at CES 2026. The chipset family is designed to support the upcoming Wi-Fi 8 standard and focuses on reliable, low-latency wireless connectivity across gateways and client devices, including AI-driven use cases.
Filogic 8000 family
MediaTek said that as the number of connected devices continues to grow, wireless environments are becoming increasingly congested and more susceptible to interference, which can result in unstable connections and slower response times.
The company explained that Wi-Fi 8 is designed to address these conditions by focusing on reliability, responsiveness, bandwidth efficiency, and power optimisation, rather than prioritising peak throughput.

Wi-Fi 8 technology pillars
Multi-AP coordination
Wi-Fi 8 enables coordinated operation between multiple access points using:
- Coordinated Beamforming (Co-BF)
- Coordinated Spatial Reuse (Co-SR)
- Multi-AP Scheduling (MAP)
These features reduce interference and improve efficiency in dense deployments.
Spectrum efficiency and coexistence
To improve operation in crowded spectrum environments, Wi-Fi 8 includes:
- Dynamic Subband Operation (DSO)
- Non-Primary Channel Access (NPCA)
- In-Device Coexistence (IDC)
These mechanisms support more effective spectrum sharing between devices and radios.
Coverage and range
Wi-Fi 8 introduces coverage-focused enhancements such as:
- Enhanced Long Range (ELR)
- Distributed-Tone Resource Units (dRU)
These features improve uplink performance, reduce latency, enable stable roaming, and strengthen network edge reliability.
Latency and reliability optimisation
For latency-sensitive applications, Wi-Fi 8 incorporates:
- Smarter data rate adaptation
- Aggregated PPDU (APPDU)
These features support consistent low-latency performance for XR, cloud gaming, and industrial automation.
Ecosystem collaboration
MediaTek stated that its Wi-Fi 8 development is being carried out with ecosystem partners including:
- Deutsche Telekom
- Airties
- SoftAtHome
- Zyxel
The company noted that it ships more than 2 billion connected devices annually, following a cadence similar to its Wi-Fi 7 deployments.
Availability
The Filogic 8000 series is intended for premium and flagship devices adopting Wi-Fi 8 technology. The first chipset is expected to reach customers later in 2026.
Speaking on the announcement, Alan Hsu, Corporate Vice President and General Manager of the Intelligent Connectivity Business Unit at MediaTek, said:
We are driving the rollout of Wi-Fi 8 across a wide range of applications, including gateways and client solutions. Through our demonstrations at CES, we are showcasing our commitment to advancing next-generation wireless technologies and reinforcing our leadership in the current Wi-Fi generation.
