Acer has expanded its portfolio of networking devices with the introduction of the Acer Connect M4D 5G Mobile Wi-Fi at the CES 2026. Designed primarily for frequent travelers and remote professionals, the new device functions as a compact, portable hotspot capable of sharing mobile internet connections with laptops, tablets, and smartphones.
Connectivity and Performance
The Acer Connect M4D utilizes dual-band Wi-Fi 6 technology (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) to establish connections. It is capable of supporting up to 16 simultaneous device connections, making it suitable for team environments or multi-device personal setups.
Regarding power management, Acer states that the device offers a battery life of up to 15 hours of typical use. This duration is intended to support a full working day without the need for fixed power sources.
SIM Flexibility and Modes
To accommodate international travel and varying carrier requirements, the Connect M4D supports multiple SIM formats, including: Nano-SIM, eSIM and Virtual SIM.
Users can store multiple eSIM profiles on the device, allowing for provider switching when moving between different regions. Additionally, the device supports USB tethering for major operating systems, including Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, and Linux.
The device also features a Wi-Fi Internet Service Provider (WISP) mode. This functions as a Wi-Fi extender, allowing the M4D to connect to an existing access point and redistribute that internet connectivity to other linked devices.
Docking Station and Home Use
While designed for mobility, the Acer Connect M4D includes a bundled docking station for stationary use in home or office settings. The docking station is equipped with an RJ45 LAN port, allowing the hotspot to function as a compact router. When docked, the device supports 5G NR to LAN and WAN functions, which are switchable via the device’s screen.
Security and Software
Acer has integrated several security protocols into the M4D to protect user data. These features include:
