The phone has narrow bezels. The phone has a tiny punch-hole that houses a 32-megapixel front camera. Above the display, there is an earpiece on the top edge that works as a secondary speaker. It has an in-display fingerprint scanner which is optical.
Coming to the button placements and ports, the power button and the volume rockers are present on the right. The dual SIM slot, primary microphone, USB Type-C port and the speaker grill are crammed in the bottom. The secondary microphone is on the top, along with the IR blaster.

The phone has a flat plastic back with a matte finish offering a good in-hand feel, so it doesn’t slip out of your hands easily. The Gemstone Blue version that we have that has a rich, elegant blue that draws from the strength of gemstones. Its smooth surface captures the depth of
polished sapphire, shifting gently with the light sophisticated, enduring, and confidently modern, said the company. It is just 7.7mm and weighs 195g.

Camera

- 50MP main camera with OV50D40 1/2.88″ sensor, f/1.8 aperture, OIS
- 2MP depth camera with Galaxy Core 02M1B sensor, f/2.4 aperture
- 32MP front-facing camera with Galaxy Core 32E2 sensor, f/2.4 aperture
The camera UI in the ColorOS 15 is familiar. There is Pro mode. You get Night mode, Hi-Res, Panorama, Slo-mo, Time-lapse, Dual-view video, Underwater mode, Sticker and Doc Scanner.
Daylight shots were good with a lot of details, and the dynamic range is better with auto HDR. Wish it had a bigger sensor. You can shoot macro images with the main camera, which is decent, but you can’t go too close. There is no ultra-wide camera, and you only get a 2MP depth sensor, so portraits are good.
The 32MP front camera does a good job as usual, and the front camera portrait shots are good as well.

Moving on, the call quality is good, and we did not face any call drops and the earpiece volume was loud. You get the default OPPO dialer with call recording and OPPO messaging apps. There is also AI summary feature.

The OPPO F31 Pro+’s body SAR is 0.988W/Kg and head SAR is at 1.160W/Kg that is well under the limit in India, which is 1.6 W/kg (over 1 g).
Performance and Benchmarks

The phone is powered by a year-old Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 Mobile Platform. It has 1+3+4 architecture, as the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2. This uses 1 x 2.63 GHz ARM Cortex-A715 prime core, 3 x A715 performance cores at up to 2.4 GHz, and 4 x Cortex-A510 efficiency cores at up to 1.8 GHz.
It is fabricated using the TSMC 4nm Process Technology. It promises 15% improvements in CPU performance compared to Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 There is 5,219 mm² vapor chamber, which is 856 mm² larger than the previous generation, is designed to improve thermal dissipation, said the company.

This uses Adreno 720 GPU. You can play graphic-intensive games like COD, BGMI and Genshin Impact. In BGMI HDR Extreme works.
In 3D Mark wild life stress test, it scored 99.2% which is good, and the temperature shot up from 32 to 38 degrees. That said, check out some synthetic benchmark scores below.

Battery life
Coming to the battery life, the phone packs a 7000mAh (typical) battery, up from 6000mAh in the F29 Pro. I got close to 6 hours of screen on time, with over 2 days of use mostly Wi-Fi and occasional 5G use in 120Hz. OPPO promises battery capacity retention rate of more than 80% after 5 years of use.
Since the phone has support for 80W SuperVOOC fast charging, it can charge up to 100% in about an hour. There are smart charging, option to stop charging at 80%, and the smart rapid charging can charge the device faster if the battery is too low.
Conclusion
Overall, the OPPO F31 Pro+ 5G is a decent mid-range smartphone that gets a lot of things right. Its biggest strengths are the massive, 7000mAh battery that offers excellent endurance and the fast 80W charging that quickly gets you back in the game. The large 120Hz AMOLED screen is vibrant and smooth, making it great for media consumption and gaming, and the performance from the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 is reliable for everyday use. However, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 could have been a better choice.
However, the phone makes some compromises. The most notable is the camera setup, which lacks an ultra-wide lens—a feature commonly found in this price segment.
For its starting price of Rs. 32,999, the OPPO F31 Pro+ 5G is a decent option for those who prioritize battery life and display quality above all else. But if a versatile camera system is more important to you, there are other competitors in the market worth considering.
Alternatives
If you need a rugged mid-range phone, there is realme P3 Ultra with faster Dimensity 8350 SoC at a cheaper rate. Other options are POCO F7 and iQOO Neo 10, if you need a more powerful phone in the similar price range.
