LG has introduced UltraFine evo 6K (model 32U990A), the first monitor in the world to feature Thunderbolt 5 connectivity. This new 32-inch display, launching under LG’s premium UltraFine evo brand, is designed for creative professionals such as video editors and graphic designers who require high-resolution displays and rapid data transfer speeds.

Display and Color Performance
The 32U990A features a 6K resolution (6,144 x 3,456 pixels) on its 32-inch screen, resulting in a high pixel density of 224 pixels per inch (PPI) for sharp text and detailed images. The monitor is factory-calibrated for macOS and provides extensive color coverage, spanning 98% of the DCI-P3 color space and 99.5% of Adobe RGB. It is also VESA DisplayHDR™ 600 certified, ensuring consistent brightness and color accuracy.
LG will also introduce a “Studio Mode” with three color preset options specifically for Mac devices. The display has already been recognized with a CES 2025 Innovation Award and an iF Design Award 2025.

Connectivity and Workflow
A key feature of the UltraFine evo 6K is its integration of Thunderbolt™ 5. This new standard allows for unidirectional data transfer speeds of up to 120Gbps, three times faster than the previous Thunderbolt 4 generation. This speed facilitates demanding tasks like real-time 4K rendering and the quick transfer of large 8K RAW video files, making it suitable for AI-driven editing workflows.
The monitor is also designed to function as a professional hub. It includes built-in KVM switching for seamless control over both Mac and Windows systems and supports daisy-chaining. This allows users to connect two 6K monitors for an expanded workspace, providing nearly five times the screen area of a single UHD 4K monitor.
Design
The monitor has a 4-side, Virtually Borderless design for an immersive viewing experience. Its stand offers ergonomic adjustments, including tilt and pivot, allowing users to orient the screen vertically for editing content for platforms like YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels.
