Samsung launched its latest smartwatches — Galaxy Watch8 and Watch8 Classic — at the Galaxy Unpacked event held today, alongside the Galaxy Z Flip7 and Z Flip7 FE foldable smartphones.
According to the company, the new lineup continues the cushion design first seen in the Galaxy Watch Ultra and features the thinnest Galaxy Watches to date, aimed at continuous health tracking and improved wearability.
Galaxy Watch8 and Galaxy Watch8 Classic
- Galaxy Watch8: Features a minimalist design for everyday use. It comes in 40mm and 44mm sizes and is available in Graphite and Silver.
- Galaxy Watch8 Classic: Comes in a 46mm case with Black and White color options, offering a traditional look with a rotating bezel and quick button.
Both models support various watch bands for different style preferences. The Galaxy Watch8’s internal structure has been redesigned, improving component mounting by 30% and resulting in an 11% thinner profile. The watch features a Dynamic Lug system that enhances both wearing comfort and health data accuracy.
Display and Performance
The Galaxy Watch8 series features a display with peak brightness of up to 3,000 nits, improving outdoor visibility. It is powered by Samsung’s 3nm processor, which enhances performance and energy efficiency. The battery is designed to support extended usage, while dual-frequency GPS offers more accurate and detailed location tracking for outdoor activities.

- Advanced Sleep Tracking & Coaching: Includes circadian rhythm-based Bedtime Guidance and detection of moderate to severe sleep apnea.

Wear OS 6 and Google Gemini AI Assistant
The Galaxy Watch8 series is Samsung’s first to feature Google’s Gemini AI assistant, running on Wear OS 6. According to the company, this enables hands-free functionality using natural voice commands for tasks like messaging, navigation, and workouts.
Samsung’s One UI 8 Watch interface introduces Multi-Info Tiles for quick access to key information, along with a Now Bar and updated notification layout optimized for round displays.
