Samsung has introduced the Galaxy Z Flip7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 FE models at its s Galaxy Unpacked event in New York, along withe Fold7.
Key Display Enhancements
The Galaxy Z Flip7 introduces Samsung’s largest and brightest FlexWindow to date. The 4.1-inch Super AMOLED FlexWindow offers edge-to-edge usability, facilitating quick message typing, schedule checks, and high-quality selfies.
It boasts 2,600 nits of peak brightness and a 120Hz refresh rate, supported by Vision Booster for improved outdoor visibility. The main display is a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X, designed for an immersive viewing experience.
Design and Durability
The Galaxy Z Flip7 has been engineered for portability and durability. Weighing 188 grams and measuring 13.7mm when folded, it is presented as the slimmest Galaxy Z Flip model yet.
The device’s cover and back are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. Its Armor FlexHinge is described as thinner than previous generations, with a restructured design and high-strength materials for smoother operation and durability. A robust Armor Aluminum Frame further enhances the device’s exterior resilience.
Performance and Battery Life
Despite its slimmer profile, the Galaxy Z Flip7 features a larger battery and display. It is equipped with a 4,300mAh battery, which Samsung states provides up to 31 hours of video playtime on a single charge.
The device is powered by a 3nm Exynos 2500 Deca-Core processor customized for Galaxy, promising an upgraded CPU, GPU, and NPU compared to its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Flip6. For the first time, Samsung DeX is available on a Galaxy Z Flip device, enabling it to function as a workstation when connected to an external screen.
AI Integration and User Experience
The Galaxy Z Flip7 integrates Galaxy AI, enhancing functionality on the FlexWindow. Running on One UI 8 and Android 16, it supports multimodal AI experiences optimized for the Flip’s design, with many tasks accessible directly from the cover screen. This includes personalized AI features such as curated wallpaper suggestions and customizable elements for the FlexWindow.
Notably, Gemini Live is now accessible directly on the FlexWindow, allowing users to perform voice-activated searches and tasks, such as accessing flight details or finding restaurants. Camera sharing on Gemini Live enables real-time assistance through visual input.
The Now Bar displays real-time app activity and alerts, while Now Brief provides personalized daily updates including traffic, reminders, and fitness summaries. The FlexWindow’s clock adapts to complement wallpapers, maintaining clear time display.
Camera Capabilities
The Galaxy Z Flip7 features dual rear camera system includes a 50MP Wide lens and a 12MP Ultra-Wide lens. Enhanced Nightography aims to improve low-light photography, and 10-bit HDR is included for richer video detail.
The FlexWindow facilitates advanced selfie capabilities. Real-Time Filters allow users to preview FlexCam shots, and a new Zoom Slider offers quick zoom adjustments. Dual Preview enables both the photographer and subject to view the composition live on the FlexWindow. Portrait Studio, integrated with Photo Assist, offers various styles for pet photos.
Galaxy Z Flip7 FE
Samsung also introduced the Galaxy Z Flip7 FE, designed to offer a foldable experience to a broader audience. This model features a 6.7-inch Main Display and a 50MP FlexCam for hands-free photography in Flex Mode. Now Brief provides updates on the cover screen, optimized for the FE’s compact form. The Galaxy Z Flip7 FE will be available in Black and White.
Mobile Security
Samsung is enhancing mobile security with new protections for on-device AI and expanded threat detection. One UI 8 introduces Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP), creating encrypted, app-specific storage environments. Samsung is also advancing Knox Matrix for proactive protection across the Galaxy ecosystem and integrating post-quantum cryptography into Secure Wi-Fi for enhanced privacy over public networks.
