vivo and Zeiss forge new R&D partnership for Imaging solutions


vivo and Zeiss have signed a new agreement to extend their joint research and development efforts. This collaboration aims to push the boundaries of cooperation further and foster sustainable innovation.

Together, they will delve into mobile optics, exploring new technologies, and enhancing imaging solutions, marking a significant stride in industry collaboration.

Advancing Mobile Imaging

Building on their existing partnership established in 2020, this agreement underscores both parties’ commitment to user-centric innovation.

Over the years, they’ve co-developed various technologies including Zeiss optical lenses, T* coatings, portrait lens packages, and natural color enhancements.

Notably, they introduced the Zeiss APO super telephoto lens, adhering to the “Vario-Apo-Sonnar” standard. These innovations have been integrated into 20 products, benefitting millions of users worldwide with enhanced mobile imaging experiences.

Future Innovations

Moving forward, vivo and Zeiss plan to further push the boundaries of imaging, including classical and computational optics. They will also expand into health imaging, exploring new frontiers in this evolving field.

While continuing to co-research in imaging and optics, vivo has also made significant strides in self-research, releasing four iterations of its own imaging chips between 2019 and 2023.

Introducing vivo Blueprint Imaging

vivo recently introduced Blueprint Imaging, part of its Blue Technology Matrix, which includes the Blue Crystal Chip Stack, Blue Heart Large Model, Blue Sea Endurance System, and Blue River Operating System.

These technologies will be integrated into the upcoming X series, jointly developed with Zeiss, promising to fulfill evolving user imaging needs. Embracing an open system of self-research and co-research, vivo aims to foster sustainable innovation and create a natural ecosystem.

As they prepare for the launch event on May 13, featuring the vivo X100 Ultra and vivo X100s, equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor and Dimensity 9300+ processing device respectively.
