Snapdragon Summit 2023: Qualcomm showcases On-Device AI devices and applications


At the Snapdragon Summit 2023, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. introduced a new era of on-device AI with the unveiling of premium tier platforms for Windows 11 PCs and mobile devices, designed to provide on-device generative AI experiences.

On-Device AI’s Impact on Device Usage

During the event, CEO Cristiano Amon highlighted how AI is set to revolutionize device usage. He explained how Snapdragon is at the forefront of delivering on-device AI experiences across a wide range of consumer electronics categories.

These new Snapdragon platforms excel in on-device AI performance, with a strong emphasis on immediacy, reliability, personalization, and privacy.

Snapdragon X Elite for Exceptional PC AI

Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon X Elite, a PC platform that surpasses competing laptop CPUs in AI performance. This platform has been purpose-built for on-device AI, featuring an industry-leading NPU (Neural Processing Unit) and outstanding CPU performance and efficiency, making it a standout choice among Windows 11 PC platforms.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Elevates Mobile AI

Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, a mobile platform, enhances on-device AI capabilities. It boasts the most potent NPU for mobile devices, utilizing AI to improve content creation, camera functions, gaming experiences, sound quality, and connectivity in premium smartphones.

These platforms demonstrate incredible speeds in generative AI tasks, such as on-device chat assistants for Windows 11 laptops (30 tokens per second) and smartphone image generation (less than a second using Stable Diffusion).

AI-Powered Snapdragon Sound and Seamless Connectivity

Qualcomm also introduced platforms like Snapdragon Sound, which leverages AI for advanced noise cancellation, and Snapdragon Seamless, enabling devices to work seamlessly together, irrespective of manufacturers and operating systems.
