Amazon Alexa gets new male voice in Hindi and English


In India, Amazon Alexa is the most popular voice assistant. This year marks Alexa’s fifth birthday. On this occasion, Amazon has provided some interesting statistics illustrating the assistants’ tremendous growth, new offerings, and new male voice.

Amazon will be announcing deals on top-selling Alexa products, such as Echo smart speakers and Fire TV devices, from March 2-4, 2023, to commemorate Alexa’s fifth birthday.

Additionally, Alexa’s original voice and a new, more masculine-sounding voice will both be available to Indian users. The new voice has Hindi and English response options.

By saying “Alexa, change your voice” on an Echo device or from the Alexa app and choosing Alexa’s voice in the device’s settings, users can change Alexa’s voice.

Amazon Alexa’s Growth in 2022
  • From January to December 2022, Alexa music requests increased by nearly 53%, with customers streaming songs via services such as Amazon Prime Music, Spotify, JioSaavn, and Apple Music.
  • Customers used Alexa-enabled Fire TV devices 600% more to search for and control the playback of their favorite content.
  • Alexa on Echo devices to make hands-free bill payments, and transactions increased by 102%.
  • Alexa commands to control smart home appliances increased by 515%.
  • “Alexa, how are you?” was asked 31,680 times per day, and “Alexa, I love you” was asked 21,600 times per day, which have increased by 214% and 275%, respectively.

Regarding the Anniversary and Amazon Alexa’s growth, Dilip R.S., country manager for Alexa, Amazon India said,
