Airtel, Tech Mahindra to deploy India’s first 5G-enabled Auto Manufacturing Unit at Chakan facility

Airtel and Tech Mahindra today announced a strategic partnership and have introduced “5G for Enterprise” at their Chakan production facility, making it India’s first 5G auto manufacturing unit. Earlier this year, in March, Airtel and Tech Mahindra announced a partnership to co-develop and market 5G use cases.

The ‘5G for Business’ solution – The Chakan facility becomes India’s first 5G enabled Auto Manufacturing Unit

Chakan’s network connectivity has been greatly increased as a result of the “5G for Business” solution, which has resulted in faster software flashing, a key process for all vehicular dispatches. Because of the high speeds and low latency, managers can now run a good deal of software flashing sessions in parallel, resulting in a shorter turn-around time for an activity.

Furthermore, the computerized vision-based inspection is now totally automated, which results in better paint quality. Airtel is pioneering 5G implementation in India. The firm has been experimenting with use cases and spectrum delivery with several partners and at various locations as a part of its #5GforBusiness services.

Airtel’s #5GforBusiness portfolio and Tech Mahindra’s industry understanding will provide customers with specialized services, proven system integration, and 5G enterprise solutions such as Factory.

NXT’s expertise in planning, designing, deploying, and managing private wireless networks for enterprises would benefit enterprise customers and drive 5G adoption in India.

This partnership fits with Tech Mahindra’s NXT.NOW strategy, which focuses on investing in new technologies and solutions to help with digital transformation and meet consumer needs.

Speaking about the partnership, Ajay Chitkara, Director and CEO, Airtel Business, said,

Our 5G solution for enterprise will transform manufacturing operations in the country. We are thrilled to partner Tech Mahindra and Mahindra Auto to demonstrate this transformation and have made the Chakan manufacturing facility India’s first 5G enabled Auto Manufacturing Unit. As the industry 4.0 paradigm gathers momentum, reliable data networks will prove to be a key differentiator in factory & manufacturing performances. This is just the beginning, and I am certain we will showcase many more innovative use cases that will help redefine manufacturing in India.
