Samsung Galaxy S23 series could get light performance mode

According to IceUniverse, a tipster, Samsung Galaxy S23 devices will get a “light performance mode.” Customers can use this option to use less power and extend the battery life of their devices.

Light performance mode, which acts as an alternative to Standard mode, was first released earlier this year for Samsung’s foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and the Galaxy Z Flip 4. It gives less importance to how well the phone’s chipset works so that the battery will last longer.

Reports state that while power usage would decrease significantly, performance would only suffer slightly. This is not the standard power saving mode, as you should be aware of. After activating the Light mode, there will be a slight performance hit but a significant reduction in power consumption.

Additionally, this mode is distinct from the typical power saving mode. Also, as the performance profile for games will still be managed by specific Game Booster settings, using Light mode won’t have an impact on how well they run.

According to reports, Samsung will enhance the battery capacity of the Galaxy S23 and S23+. The vanilla phone will be upgraded to 3,900 mAh, while the plus model will be upgraded to 4,700 mAh (+200 mAh in both situations). Only the S23 Ultra, the top-end model, could retain the bigger 5,000 mAh battery capacity of its predecessor.

Also, keep in mind that the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is performing well, so the performance boost from the new chipset may compensate for the slowness caused by Light mode. But the 8 Gen 2 is expected to use less power than the 8 Gen 1, so the battery life should be better even before the larger batteries in the Galaxy S23 and S23+ are taken into account.

Samsung Galaxy S23 launch in early February?

According to the Korean article, due to competition, Samsung is launching the Galaxy S23 in the first week of February next year. A Samsung business executive claimed Samsung Electronics would announce its next product at an Unpacked event in San Francisco in the first week of February. Samsung Electronics normally has a public event and releases the product on “Friday in two weeks,” therefore the Galaxy S23 series is scheduled to be available on February 17, 2023.

Typically, Samsung Electronics releases the Galaxy S series in March, but as market competition heats up, the release date is being pushed forward. Furthermore, industry sources estimate that the semiconductor market will not be good until at least the first part of next year.

Regarding the other specifications, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will be used in this series. Additionally, the highest model, the Ultra, is supposed to come with a 200-megapixel camera from Samsung.

An official from the smartphone industry said,

If the launch of the product is advanced, it will be able to contain competitors more and reflect the effect of the new product launch in the first quarter results.” With the recent smartphone market shrinking by around 10% year-on-year every quarter, the company is aiming to turn its earnings by ‘early launch’.
