Redmi 11 Prime 5G Unboxing and First Impressions


Redmi launched the Redmi 11 Prime series of smartphones in India. Both the phones feature a 6.58-inch FHD+ 90Hz display and pack a 5000mAh battery. The 5G model that we have is powered by Dimensity 700 SoC. Here we have the first impressions of the phone.

The phone features a 6.58-inch FHD+ IPS LCD notch screen with 30Hz/60Hz/90Hz adaptive refresh rate and has 240Hz touch sampling rate. The screen is bright, so it is decent in outdoor conditions. The screen has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.

The phone has a 8MP camera on the front. The earpiece is on the top edge, but it doesn’t double up as a secondary speaker. Powered by MediaTek Dimesnity 700 7nm SoC, the the phone has 7 5G bands. It comes in 4GB + 64GB (UFS 2.2) and 6GB + 128GB (UFS 2.2) storage options. The phone runs Android 12 with MIUI 13 on top.

The volume rockers and the power button that also comes with a fingerprint scanner are present on the right. It has dual SIM and a microSD card slot on the left arranged in a single tray. The 3.5mm audio jack is present on the top along with the IR sensor. The loudspeaker speaker grill, USB Type-C port and the primary microphone are present on the bottom. It has Splash proof P2i coating.

On the back, there are dual rear cameras that include a 50-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture and a 2-megapixel depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture and LED flash.  Check out some camera samples below.

The phone has an Evol. Design with flat edges on the sides and micro grooves on the back that offers a better grip. Even thought the phone weighs 2010 grams, the weight distribution is good, so it doesn’t feel that heavy.

The Redmi 11 Prime has a huge, 5000mAh battery and supports 18W charging via USB Type-C, even though it comes with a 22.5W charger in the box.

Priced starting at Rs. 13,999 for the 4GB RAM with 64GB storage version, it will be available from  Amazon.in, mi.com, Mi Home stores and offline stores starting from September 9th. ICICI card users get a Rs. 1000 discount, so the effective starting price of the phone is Rs. 12,999.
