HUAWEI launched its Mate 50 Series today in China as the company’s flagship smartphone line-up, which comes with a bunch of new features as well as some long-standing functionalities. Additionally, the Mate smartphone from HUAWEI is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year.
HUAWEI Mate 50’s 6.7-inch OLED screen FHD+ resolution, a 90Hz refresh rate, a 300Hz touch sampling rate, and 1440Hz PWM dimming. The display supports HDR and HDR Vivid. On the other hand, the HUAWEI Mate 50 Pro and RS have a 6.74-inch FHD+ OLED panel with 120Hz refresh rate, a 300Hz touch sampling rate, and 1440Hz PWM dimming. HDR Vivid and 3D View spectral modes are supported.
As far as the design is concerned, the HUAWEI Mate 50 boasts a top centre hole punch and flat panel, whereas the Mate 50 Pro and RS have a notch design like the Mate 20 Pro but with slimmer bezels.
On the camera side, the HUAWEI Mate 50 Series features its own, specially developed XMAGE camera imaging system. The firm says that the XMAGE is focused on light, devices, electricity, and computing. The new imaging system produces photos with vivid colours, fine detail, etc.
HUAWEI Mate 50 sports a 13MP extreme wide-angle camera, a 12MP periscope zoom with 100X digital zoom, and a 50MP primary camera with RYYB colours and laser focus. The HUAWEI Mate 50 Pro and RS have similar camera setups but different megapixel numbers.
The two variants have a 50MP main camera with variable aperture technology. Next is a 64MP periscope zoom featuring a RYYB colour matrix and OIS. It has a 200X super zoom. There’s also a 13 MP ultra wide-angle camera that supports macro. Mate 50 RS includes a 48MP ultra-macro telephoto periscope camera, unlike the Pro version.
All three devices are powered by a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 (4G) processor, while the Mate 50E is driven by a Snapdragon 778G 4G SoC. HUAWEI’s Mate 50 and Pro have a big camera hump on the back, much like the Mate 40 series. On the other hand, HUAWEI’s Mate 50 RS Porsche Design sports an octagonal camera bump that integrates into the back. The HUAWEI Mate 50 and Mate 50 Pro are available in blue, orange, silver, black, and purple, with leather and glass backs on both devices. The Mate 50 RS comes in blue and purple.
The Mate 50 device is packed with a 4460 mAh battery, while the Mate Pro and RS versions come with 4700 mAh of battery capacity. The Mate 50 and Mate 50 Pro have 66W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and 7.5W reverse wireless charging capabilities.
For communication, the Huawei Mate 50 Series devices are packed with satellite communication technology, which lets the users commune even without network coverage. On the software side, the devices are preinstalled with the firm’s latest HarmonyOS 3 operating system.
