Microsoft’s ‘Your Phone’ PC app for Android revamped as ‘Phone Link’

Microsoft’s Your Phone app, which links Android phones with Windows PCs, has recently undergone a huge revamp. The app will now be renamed “Phone Link” and will have a new style that matches the Windows 11 interface.

In addition to the huge makeover, Windows 11 users will get an even more feature pack “to enable a native user experience on the new Windows 11 OS.” This includes new icons, rounded edges, and a new color palette that fits the dark/light theme.

Microsoft’s Android smartphone companion app, which was previously only available on Samsung Galaxy devices and the Microsoft Surface Duo, has been renamed “Link to Windows.” It has a new visual interface that “brings notifications upfront,” as per Microsoft.

In the PC app, you’ll discover a notification panel just beneath your phone’s status and quick settings toggles, where the side navigation panel for messages, photos, and apps used to be. These features are now accessible from the app’s redesigned top placement. In terms of notifications, the new permanent position allows you to see the synced notifications from your Android phones in a much better style.

In addition to the existing devices, Microsoft is expanding the availability of Phone Link to more Android devices, including select HONOR smartphones. This includes the HONOR Magic V, as well as devices from the Magic4 and Magic3 series.

Speaking on the update, Gerald Haslhofer, General Manager, Mobile and Cross Device Team, said,

“Evolving the connection between your phone and your Windows PC”
