Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 could bring body temperature monitoring

Samsung introduced the Galaxy Watch 4 last year, and the smartwatch recently got new features via an update last month. Now new rumours from Korea says that the upcoming Galaxy Watch 5 will come with body / skin temperature monitoring. The Watch 4 brought body composition measurement for skeletal muscle mass, basal metabolic rate, body water and body fat percentage.

The skin temperature detection can be affected by external factors such as sunlight and and exercising, which is the main reasons companies such as Samsung and Apple have been delaying brining the feature until now, says the report.

Samsung has worked on a new technology to overcome this and measure body temperature as accurately as possible. The company is also considering bringing this feature to the Galaxy Buds, and it is said to use infrared wavelengths emitted from the eardrum to the earbuds to measure the temperature.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 with body temperature monitoring is expected to release in August. The prototype of the Galaxy Buds with the skin temperature monitoring is ready, but the release date is not locked yet, says the report.
