AMD Ryzen 6000 Series Mobile Zen3+ 6nm processors with RDNA2 graphics and Radeon RX 6000S Series GPUs for laptops announced

At the CES AMD introduced new AMD Ryzen 6000 Series processors for laptops built on Zen 3+ core and all-new AMD RDNA 2 architecture-based on-chip graphics. These use TSMC’s 6nm process technology that promises 1080p AAA gaming, cutting-edge features and long battery life.

The Ryzen 6000 Series offer up-to 5 GHz clock speeds, up to 1.3 times faster processing speeds, and up to 2.1 times faster graphics compared to the 5000 Series. The “Zen 3+” core delivers power and efficiency, through new adaptive power management features that adjust speed quickly, and new deep sleep states that help save on power.

Compared to last-generation AMD Ryzen processors, the AMD Ryzen 6000 Series processors can use up to 30% less power for video conferencing and promises incredible battery life of up to 24 hours of movie playback on a single charge in a cool, quiet laptop.

These feature eight high-performance cores, each one capable of handling multiple tasks at the same time to deliver 16 threads of processing power, AMD Ryzen 6000 Series processors promise up to 11% more single-threaded performance and up to 28% faster multithreaded performance over the previous generation.

AMD said that the Ryzen 6000 U-Series processors will offer the perfect blend of performance and efficiency.  The company is also introducing AMD Ryzen 5000 Mobile Series processors, improving performance with the incorporation of “Zen 3” processor technology in 2022.

The first laptops powered by AMD Ryzen 6000 Series processors will be available through OEM partners Asus, Dell, and HP, beginning in February 2022.

AMD Radeon RX 6000S and Radeon RX 6000M Series

The company also announced the new AMD Radeon RX 6000S mobile graphics line-up – the AMD Radeon RX 6800S, Radeon RX 6700S and Radeon RX 6600S for power-efficient, high-performance gaming to incredibly thin-and-light laptops.

The company also expanded the AMD Radeon RX 6000M Series mobile graphics family, with the addition of the AMD Radeon RX 6850M XT, Radeon RX 6650M XT, Radeon RX 6650M, Radeon RX 6500M and Radeon RX 6300M mobile graphics.

The top-end AMD Radeon RX 6850M XT GPU offers 1440p gaming performance for next-gen premium laptops with 7% faster gaming performance on average than the previous top-of-the-line AMD Radeon RX 6800M mobile GPU.

The high-end AMD Radeon RX 6800S GPU at 100W is projected to offer the ultimate in thin-and-light 1080p gaming by delivering up to 100 FPS in select titles with max settings, and is projected to offer 10% higher performance on average across select titles at 1080p than the competition.

Availability

The Alienware m17 R5, an AMD Advantage laptop powered by up to an AMD Ryzen 6980HX APU and up to an AMD Radeon RX 6850M XT GPU is expected to be available in Q2 2022. Other laptops with new AMD Radeon RX 6000M Series mobile graphics are expected to be available beginning in Q1 2022 from leading OEMs.

Laptops with AMD Radeon RX 6000S Series mobile graphics are expected to be available beginning in Q1 2022, including the ROG Zephyrus G14, the first 14-inch AMD Advantage laptop powered by up to an AMD Ryzen 9 6900HS APU and up to an AMD Radeon RX 6800S GPU.
