Google Pixel 5a 5G with 6.34-inch FHD+ OLED display, Snapdragon 765G, 4680mAh battery, IP67 water resistant metal body announced


After rumours, Google just announced the Google Pixel 5a 5G, the company’s latest mid-range smartphone and the successor to last year’s Pixel 4a 5G officially. It features a 6.34-inch FHD+ OLED display, compared to a 6.2-inch in the 4a 5G. It retains the Snapdragon 765G SoC with 5G SA/NSA, Titan M Security chip, 12.2MP rear camera, OIS along with a 16MP 107° Ultra-wide secondary camera, and an 8-megapixel camera on the front.

The phone runs Android 11 with minimum 3 years of OS and security updates, has a metal unibody design with a soft finish compared to polycarbonate body in the 4a 5G and also has IP67 ratings for water resistance. The Pixel 5a 5G comes only in Mostly Black colour with forest green undertones and an olive-colored Power button, but the company sells a case in four different colors – Black Moss, Maybe Moon, Likely Lime and Partially Pink. Each case color creates unique shades for personalization.

The Google Pixel 5a 5G is priced at $449 (Rs. 33,395 approx.), is available to pre-order in the U.S. and Japan and will ship starting from August 26th. It is unlocked and works on all major carrier networks in the U.S. and Japan, said the company. However, it didn’t reveal any plans to sell the phone outside these countries. The case is priced at $29 (Rs. 2,155 approx.)
