Last year at the INNO DAY OPPO showed off OPPO X 2021 rollable concept phone with OLED display expands from 6.7 inches to 7.4 inches. Today at the MWC 2021 Shanghai it showed off the OPPO X 2021 concept phone with which adds OPPO’s new Wireless Air Charging technology, which can deliver up to 7.5W of charging power with no cables or charging stands.
As you can see in the video, it uses magnetic resonance technology, so the OPPO X 2021 begins charging as soon as it’s within 10 cm of its charging mat, which can deliver up to 7.5W of charging power—you can even play games while it charges. Xiaomi’s Mi Air Charge technology that was announced last month works even when the phone is a few feet away, but it will take years to arrive in devices.
Regarding the OPPO X 2021, the company said that it has applied for 122 individual new patents, including 12 relating to a completely new rollable mechanism. This uses OPPO’s proprietary Warp Track screen laminate that creates a display that unrolls like a caterpillar track, so it doesn’t create any creases. It uses a custom-developed Roll Motor powertrain that uses two drive motors to smoothly extend and retract without too much stress on the high-end display.
It uses two sliding plates to support the screen whether it’s retracted or fully unrolled, and a dynamic frame that strengthens the entire device. So, the screen stays strong and smooth and the unique technology is protected—at all times.
At the MWC 2021 Shanghai, OPPO also demos 125W flash charger, which can charge a 4,000mAh phone battery to 100% in just 20 minutes, 65W AirVOOC wireless flash charge products—which charges the same battery in 30 minutes as well as products from several partners who have licensed OPPO’s proprietary technologies.
