After posting teasers last month, Xiaomi’s Redmi brand today confirmed the launch of its Redmi K40 series smartphones in China on February 25th. This was confirmed by Redmi General Manager, Lu Weibing who already that confirmed that the pricing will start at 2,999 yuan (US$ 460 / Rs. 33,993 approx.) and the series will include a cost-effective phone powered by the flagship Snapdragon 888 Mobile Platform which should be K40 Pro.
The company already confirmed an AMOLED screen for the entire K40 series, and it will feature the most expensive flat screen. Earlier rumours revealed a 120Hz Samsung E4 AMOLED display with a centre punch-hole of about 2.8mm for the K40 Pro. The phones will pack a battery bigger than 4000mAh. Redmi smartphone models M2012K11AC and M2012K11C got certified by the 3C recently confirming 33W fast charging support for the phones.
Some rumours say that the K40 will be powered by Snapdragon 870 SoC and start at 1999 yuan (US$ 309 / Rs. 22,590 approx.). The top-end K40 Pro model is expected to come with 108MP quad rear cameras and pack up to 12GB of RAM. We should know more details in the coming days.
