Why Nord?

As per the company claims, the term Nord, which means ‘North’ in European languages, seemed to be best suited in describing this new journey OnePlus is undertaking in the mid-tier segment, hence, OnePlus Nord.

First impressions!

OnePlus didn’t cut corners when it comes to the build quality, which means at a lower price, you get the same premium build as the OnePlus flagship device. At 184 grams and 8.2mm thickness, the device feels light and sort of compact in hand. Nevertheless, it attracts fingerprints due to its glossy finish. We suggest you use the mobile with the bundled transparent case. Both the front and back are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

Buttons placement

Talking about the buttons, we have the alert slider, power button to the right, volume rocker to the left. The bottom side houses SIM slot, USB Type-C port, speaker grille and the primary microphone. On top, it’s clean with just a secondary microphone.

Looking around Nord

The front side is dominated by 6.44-inch (1080 x 2400 pixels) Full HD+ 408 PPI 20:9 Fluid AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. On the left top, we also have a dual front camera – 32MP and 8MP 105° ultra-wide camera. Flipping back, we have a 48MP + 8MP + 5MP + 2MP camera setup. The camera setup module reminds me of a lot of Realme devices.

OxygenOS 10.5

The OnePlus Nord is shipped with Android 10 with OxygenOS 10.5 out of the box. With Nord, users will receive 2 years of software updates and 3 years of security updates. It also comes with all the features like dark mode, Zen Mode, and all the customization options that let you tweak everything from icon shapes to fingerprint animations.

Qualcom Snapdragon 765G!

Under the hood, Nord is powered by the Qualcom Snapdragon 765G 5G Mobile Platform that has improved CPU speeds, 30% faster graphics rendering than its predecessor – the Snapdragon 730G. In terms of connectivity options, the Nord supports G SA/NSA, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6 802.11 ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz) 2X2 MIMO, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS (L1+L5 Dual Band) + GLONASS, NFC, USB Type-C.

Warp charge 30T

The entire hardware is powered by a 4115 mAh battery with Warp Charge 30T fast charging that can charge the phone from 0% to 70% in just 22 minutes.
