Fossil Gen 5 smartwatch with Snapdragon Wear 3100 platform launching in India during Amazon Great Indian Festival 2019


Fossil, the company known for its luxury watches and smartwatches announced its Gen 5 back in August. Now, Amazon.in teaser confirms the launch of Fossil Gen 5 smartwatch on the Great Indian Festival 2019.

Amazon Great Indian Festival 2019 teaser confirms that the launch of Fossil Gen 5 smartwatch. It is listed under “New Launches from top brands only on Great Indian Festival”, confirming the launch. While Amazon India hasn’t announced when the Great Indian Festival will commence, we can expect it start on 29th September 2019 considering that is when Flipkart’s Big Billion Days also commence.

To recall, Fossil Gen 5 smartwatch is a touch screen smartwatch and comes in different materials like ‘The Carlyle HR Smoke Stainless Steel/Black Silicone/Dark Brown Leather’,’Julianna HR Rose Gold-Tone Stainless Steel, Blush Leather, and Stainless Steel’. It comes with a 44mm dial, is powered by the Snapdragon Wear 3100 CPU, 1GB RAM, 8GB storage and runs on Wear OS by Google operating system.

The sensor options include Accelerometer, Altimeter, Ambient Light, Gyroscope, Heart Rate, and the connectivity options include Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, Wi-Fi, GPS and also has an in-built microphone and speaker which means that users can take calls on their smartwatch and hear responses from Google Assistant. It is also water-resistant up to 30 meters.

Google promised battery life improvements in the Wear 3100 platform and in similar lines, Fossil has included three battery modes on this smartwatch i.e., ‘Daily mode’,’Extended mode’,’Custom mode’,’Time mode’ and the ‘Extended mode’ claims that the smartwatch lasts multiple days while still tracking heart rate and displaying notifications as well.
