Samsung Galaxy Note8 bags DisplayMate’s highest ever A+ grade

Samsung recently announced the Galaxy Note8 flagship smartphone with a massive 6.3-inch QHD + Infinity display. Now, according to a new test performed by DisplayMate, the Galaxy Note8 display has surpassed the one on the Galaxy S8 in its testing. The specialist of video screens, stated that Samsung’s latest flagship device is “the most innovative and high performance smartphone display that we have ever lab tested.”

DisplayMate has also given the Note 8 its first ever A+ rating for a smartphone. The main assessment categories including brightness, outdoor visibility and color gamut, once again raising the standard for smartphone displays. The Infinity Display of the Galaxy Note8 boasts a record high peak brightness of 1,240 nits* – a 22 percent increase from the Galaxy S8 and a screen reflectance level of 4.6 percent, which as per DisplayMate is one of the lowest ever measured for a smartphone. The report also notes that Galaxy Note 8’s maximum screen brightness can go much higher when the its Automatic Brightness feature is turned on.

The display also supports an even wider color gamut, user-adjustable white-point, improved color accuracy, improved viewing angles, a new hardware-based always on implementation, better auto-brightness control. It has a Screen Reflectance of 4.6 percent which is close to the lowest that DisplayMate has ever measured for a smartphone. The Contrast Rating For High Ambient Light ranges from 88 to 128 which is the highest that it has ever measured for a smartphone.

Galaxy Note8’s 6.3-inch display is 20 percent larger in screen area compared to the Galaxy S8 and 14 percent larger than its predecessors.
