Uber adds custom Snapchat filters in India

UberSnapchat 2

Uber is integrating Snapchat in its ride sharing app in India. With this integration, riders will be able to use custom Snapchat filters on their ride.

The idea is to allow users to share with their friends when they will arrive with the Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) filters. These filters can be used only during the Uber ride. If you are an existing Snapchat user and on an Uber ride, you will see a Snap card in the Uber feed. Just select the type of filter you want to unlock, take your selfie, and swipe right. You can even use Uber filters with another Snap lens for double the fun. The ETA filter includes the text “Be there in 5” with the Uber logo. There is an option to unlock the filter for five minutes as well.

Apurva Dalal, Head of Engineering, Uber India said,

In our new rider app, we start with the question ‘Where to’ so we can get riders to their destination as fast as possible. However besides helping riders get to their destinations, we want to focus on the trip experience itself and make sure riders enjoy the journey. Technology is helping us personalize every ride, making the experience fun and delightful. With this integration, our riders can now Snap along the way and share their Uber moments with friends and family.

It must be noted that in order to use these custom filters, Uber riders should have the Snapchat app. The Snapchat integration will available for riders on both Android and iOS in India.
