Snapchat unveiled Spectacles, a pair of sunglasses with built-in camera for video recording back in September last year in limited number of quantities through Snapbot vending machines so it was pretty hard to get. Today it started selling the Spectacles on its official website for the same price of US$ 129.99 (Rs. 8700 approx.).
Spectacles will allow user to record 10 second videos thanks to an integrated video camera with a 115-degree lens. The video is recorded by tapping a button that is present next to the hinge. At the beginning of the video, a ring around the camera flashes lights, to signal it is recording.
Content which is recorded using the Spectacles gets automatically saved to Memories section of the Snapchat application in a new circular video format. The Spectacles can be synced to your mobile device and videos can be further shared.
The Snapchat Spectacles comes in Coral, Black and Teal colors and is currently available only in the U.S. A maximum of 6 Spectacles per household can be ordered and it takes two to four weeks to ship. Charging cases and charging cords are available separately for $49.99 and $9.99, respectively.
