HTC Vive VR headset to launch in April 2016


HTC has provided some update about the Vive VR headset. The company said that it is delaying the launch of its virtual reality headset till April 2016.

Vive is the VR headset that is being made in partnership with Valve’s Steam VR program. HTC said that it has been distributing the HTC Vive Developer Kits to developers and content creators, and are continuing to work with many other innovative companies to create content that spans gaming, entertainment, medical, education and retail. The company will make an additional 7,000 units available to developers next year that will be followed by the commercial availability scheduled in April 2016.

HTC also said that it will host a developer conference in Beijing on December 18th and launch the second generation of the HTC Vive Developer Kit at CES. The company did not mention the reason behind the delay of the Vive VR headset. The Taiwanese company that has been struggling to garner revenues, recently reported a 6 month pick in revenue owing to strong HTC One A9 sales.
