Xiaomi has officially introduced the Mi Protect insurance service plans that will cover Mi devices in case of accidental and liquid damage. It will even offer free home pickup and drop and free second servicing within 1 year from activation.
The Mi Protect plans can be bought with all the Mi devices that you have purchased through Mi.com only. The plan is priced at Rs. 275 for Redmi 2 and Redmi 2 Prime smartphones and it will cost Rs. 499 for Mi 4i (16 GB), Mi 4 (16 GB) and Mi Pad. The Mi Protect plan covers all accidental and liquid damages. The accidental part covers damage caused by sitting on the phone, the device falling or being crushed by some heavy object. The company claims that liquid damage would cover, for instance, the phone getting drenched in rain, being dropped in water, or even some spillage.
