ES File Explorer is a nice and reliable file manager for Android but its interface was something that not many people liked. However the new update to v4.0 brings about the Material Design UI to the application.

Previously, it had a Black and Grey interface while the update changes it to a White and Blue interface that looks simpler and much more user friendly. The actions buttons were previously located at the bottom and did feel cluttered as it was directly above the on-screen navigations keys. Now those keys have been moved up to the top and are easier to access and use. The new file/new folder button has now been converted to a floating icon at the bottom right.

The icons have also been replaced with flatter and smoother looking icons than before. The file explorer is available as a free download for Android devices running on Android 2.0 or later and is also available for Android TV. While the updated app is available for download as an .apk, the update doesn;t seem to have hit the Play Store yet so users will have to wait a bit more if they want to get it from the store itself.
