Samsung taunts iPhone’s battery life in latest Galaxy S5 ad, calls iPhone users ‘Wall huggers’


Samsung has taken an aim at Apple iPhone’s poor battery life in its latest Samsung Galaxy S5 ad. The electronic tech giant is calling iPhone users as “wall huggers” thereby suggesting the weak battery life of the phone.

The one minute long ad shows iPhone users sitting next to power outlets on airports and not doing basic anything else. It taunts them as “tethered to walls” struggling to keep the battery on their phone. In contrast, the ad features Samsung Galaxy S5 users enjoying  their device while Apple owners look on with envy. Moving on, the ad also shows a Galaxy S5 user changing the battery, a feature not present in the Apple’s iPhone.

Battery life is one of the most important part of a smartphone ecosystem that people definitely consider before buying one.At the end of the ad Samsung advises iPhone users to stop being “wall huggers”, because they can now get an S5.

Galaxy S5 is the flagship device by Samsung that was unveiled in February. The 5.1-inch Galaxy S5 boasts of a fingerprint sensor, a water resistant casing, and a heart rate sensor. One of the device’s most highly-touted features is an Ultra Power Saving Mode, which activates a black and white display with limited app access when the phone’s battery is low.

Samsung had previously released an ad in 2012 that made fun of Apple fans waiting in line for the iPhone 5 as onlookers enjoyed their already-available Galaxy S III.
