Swipe rolls out Android 4.4 KitKat update for Konnect 5.0

Swipe Telecom launched Swipe Konnect 5.0,  the company’s first Android smartphone in the Konnect running Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) last week for Rs. 8999. Today the company has announced that it has started rolling out Android 4.4 (KitKat) update for the smartphone. In addition to better performance and UI changes, the smartphones also has customizable UI which can be personalized with multiple effects, themes and transitions.

The Swipe Konnect 5.0 has a 5-inch ( 960 ×540 pixels) qHD capacitive touch screen IPS display based on one-glass-solution, powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 8-megapixel rear camera with OmniVision sensor, LED flash and a 3.2-megapixel front-facing camera.

It comes with dual SIM support, 3G, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. It has 1GB RAM, 8GB of internal memory, expandable memory up to 32GB with microSD and packs a 1950 mAh battery. Several manufacturers have started releasing smartphones running on Android KitKat and some companies like have promised to update older phones to KitKat soon. This will increase the KitKat install base in coming months.
