Now you can play Assassin Creed Pirates in your browser

Popular mobile game Assassin Creed can now be played as a free game in your browser. Microsoft has teamed up with Ubisoft to bring the game to the web that can be played using either touch input or a mouse and keyboard. The game was launched on Android, iPhone and iPad in December 2013.

The game which is available in five languages is built with Babylon.JS, an open-source 3D engine built on WebGL, JavaScript, and TypeScript. It can be played not only on IE but also on all the major browsers like Chrome Firefox, Opera and Safari. In the web-based version of Assassin’s Creed Pirates, you play as Alonzo Batilla, a young captain, who races his ship through the Caribbean seas while dodging mines and other hazards in search of treasure.

When Assassin’s Creed Pirates was released on mobile, it received good praise for its groundbreaking visuals. We wanted to see if a game like this could be possible on the web. It’s difficult to really know where web-gaming is headed, but we can be sure that Babylon.JS and Internet Explorer today, in terms of gaming, are great platforms to demonstrate its potential.

said François Bodson, Studio Manager in a statement.

Microsoft notes that while most web games require a fixed screen resolution, this new solution allows Assassin’s Creed Pirates to be played on any resolution or device. When running on IE11, the game detects your Windows device and input type and adjusts itself accordingly to best fit your screen resolution.
