Nokia don’t Forget to Launch the N900 in India at a Realistic Price

on August 27, 2009 – 8:03 pm22 Comments

Well the N900 is out now and all Nokia crazy wannabe Linux phone owners from India might have skipped a heart beat if they saw the official announcement for the N900. Towards the end of the official release email , it reads as follows

image

The Nokia N900 will be available in select markets from October 2009 with an estimated retail price of EUR 500 excluding sales taxes and subsidies.

What does that mean ? India has not been one of those select markets in the past. For instance the N770, N800 and N810 linux internet tablets never made it here. Only USA , Europe were lucky enough to get them. Hope Nokia does not disappoint users in India over the launch of the N900. Also the price of the N900 is around 500 euros plus taxes , so the indian price (if it’s launched ) should be around Rs.35000.

That being said, don’t loose hope . We are giving away a N900 on FoneArena pretty soon. Stay tuned for announcements and keep an eye on our Nokia World 2009 Coverage. We will bring you live pictures , videos and lots more live from Stuttgart , Germany.

UPDATE : N900 finally finally released in India

that makes me rethink my n97 demand to my parents as a graduation gift. :)

Minor correction: The first tablet released by Nokia was the 770, not N770, as it wasn’t an Nseries.

Hmm, I guess that doesn’t increase my chances of winning that N900 huh? I’ll pay postage! ;)

Has there be any further news on this? I sent a mail to Nokia India but could not get anything from them. I would expect them to have launched a campaign by now if they were launching it here.

I spoke to Nokia’s top mgmt at Nokia World and looks like they might bring it to india depending on the reaction in the other markets

  • shiva

well it cost around 35000 which is more costly now am using samsung jet which is 20000 and it has all the facility that this phone has and even more better than this bec it has it has amoled briliant display and 800mhz process but this n900 has only 600mhz so i think samsung jet is good at its price

  • dj990

yeah that may be but jet is only good on paper . The os sux and even tha capacitaive touch screen isnt that great a deal considering the os dosnt support multitouch .
Nokias resistive tech is gr8 . A better phone would be omnia hd cause its got symbian . Also i dont mind paying if u get me that phone by nov end :)

Nokia has sold only 100,000 N900 phones until recently. While the apple has sold millions.(Apple 4 G)
Looks like Nokia will not be making newer phones in Linux based operating system.Which means no support from company in future.Good set,but chunky.Given another chance I wouldn’t buy it..:-)
